It all started when I read John Lee, MD's book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause" in 1998. My mother had a fibroid the size of a softball, and her OB/GYN wanted to give her a hysterectomy. John Lee, MD said, "Give her Natural Progesterone." I took her off her synthetic estrogen and gave her a Natural Progesterone Cream that was supposed to be healthy high quality brand. My mother called me up later that month to tell me that her fibroid was now BIGGER. So what was in this Progesterone Cream? It turns out that they put in sage and rosemary as phytoestrogens for hot flashes in addition to the Natural Progesterone. Good news for hot flashes. Bad news for fibroids.

The next question was, "If topical sage and rosemary can make the fibroid bigger, what else can?"

So I switched to another brand of Natural Progesterone cream. And in three months, my mother's fibroid was GONE! I went down to Austin, Texas to visit my brother, and decided to look up the new Progesterone skin cream's ingredients in the University of Texas Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) computer database (1998). I was horrified to find that one of the ingredients Steral Konium Chloride was extremely toxic and 3 cc of Steral Konium Chloride orally ingested would cause fatal convulsions in adults. I was giving this to my mother! If she ate 1/3 of the bottle, she would die.

Initially, patients with endometriosis menstrual pain as a symptom were given Natural Progesterone cream. These patients complained that their endometriosis pain actually got worse! I found out that the Natural Progesterone Cream that they used contained parabens as a preservative. These parabens were estrogenic! The parabens actually made the endometriosis worse!

I found that if patients avoided parabens in topicals alone and did NOT even take the Natural Progesterone, their endometriosis symptom of menstrual pain would get better in 2 months!

So we started the search for a safe nontoxic effective Natural Progesterone topical, and the search for what is estrogenic and what is not.
